Hartley Loudspeakers are currently in pre-production as we refine the final details for launch. Comprehensive product information—including specifications, pricing, and shipping options—will be released gradually as we move toward our formal debut in Spring 2026.
We sincerely appreciate your interest and look forward to reaching this exciting milestone, and to sharing the full scope of our next-generation designs in the months ahead.
Renowned for coining the term “High Fidelity,” Hartley—an iconic innovator in loudspeaker design—has returned to production under the stewardship of Tri-Art Audio. In collaboration with former owner Richard Schmetterer, we are committed to preserving and advancing the Hartley legacy. All milling, fabrication, and finishing are undertaken in-house at our manufacturing facility in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
Today’s Hartley
Steve Ginsberg, owner and (developer) of Tri-Art Audio, was aware of Hartley’s speakers and the undeniable sound quality they process. Realizing Hartley was no longer in production, Steve contacted Richard Schmetterer (owner of Hartley) introduced himself and his company. Steve’s audio passion, philosophy, and ability to carry on the Hartley brand with integrity, eventually lead him to acquiring the company with Richard’s support.
Steve wanted to ensure the preservation and quality of Hartley’s sound but also evolve aspects of the vintage Hartley’s for today’s market and his designs for high fidelity sound. The initial launch of the Reference Series features cabinetry of Steve’s design and the fine craftsmanship of the Tri-Art Audio wood shop. Next to be re-launced is the Concertmaster collection featuring the hand-made polymer cones produced in the Hartley method. Richard has been intregral in Tri-Art Audio’s development and training of the Hartley process for the continuation of the truly best loudspeaker sound possible.
